Donations & Nonprofits
In February 2019, Isaiah 117 was the recipient of $10,225 in donations from our members! Holston Habitat for Humanity and Door of Hope also both received $1,000 from members. (For subsequent events, all donations go to the single nonprofit that receives the most votes.)
In August 2019, Levi’s Legacy was the recipient of $10,719 in donations from our members! Appalachian Sustainable Development and Friends of Suzanne also presented.
In April/May 2020, we held a special Big Give. Due to COVID-19, we suspended our usual rules and members voted via email for a local charity that provides food for those in need. One Acre Cafe was selected and received $10,151 from our members and friends! Second Harvest Food Bank of NE TN and The Salvation Army were the other options.
In August 2020, The Shepherd's Inn (a domestic violence safe house in Carter County, TN) was selected for our virtual 7th Big Give; they received approximately $10,600 from our members! Good Samaritan Ministries and Young Life Upper East Tennessee also presented.
In November 2020, Branch House - Sullivan County Justice Center was the recipient of $10,600 from our members for our 8th Big Give! Alzheimer's Association - TN Chapter and Somebody Loves Me also presented.
The organizations below have been nominated by members of our giving circle at one time (but not all have current nominations). Not all have been vetted by our leadership team yet (see guidelines). Three nominated nonprofits are selected at random to give brief presentations at each quarterly Big Give event. Members vote and write checks or donate online directly to the chosen charity for a cumulative donation that is typically $10,000+!
